Film Friday – Plastik Music — Boomwhacker Craziness!
If you love boomwhackers, then you need to see these videos! Plastik Music is a musical group that takes famous songs and arranges them for boomwhackers and a variety of other found/converted/created instruments. Here’s a quick blurb from their website:
“From Mozart to Motown, Plastic Musik puts a RADICAL twist on the greatest hits of our time. Unassumingly armed with Boom Whackers, Buckets, and Kiddie Pools, they attack profound compositions with scores of energy . Enjoy a mind-boggling perspective of your favorites past and present… these guys are hilarious and awesome.”
I first heard of this group a few years ago when I was talking to someone about boomwhackers. I started searching for their videos and ended up spending a half an hour or longer just listening and being amazed by their skill. You can find videos of PM covering lots of popular songs from Michael Jackson to Lady Gaga along with more classical/traditional choices (Flight of the Bumblebee is one of my favorites!).
What’s more, these videos definitely get kids motivated and gave me a couple ideas of how to use my boomwhackers a little more effectively. Check em out, it’ll absolutely put a smile on your face!
